View Full Version : Top Speed Runs at Abandoned Airfield...

I saw a vid of a guy taking his 300/SRT8 to 150 and I decided that I want to try this. I am doing research and I think I want to look into finding one and seeing how that goes.

I need the experience you guys and girls have. Does anyone know of the legality ? Are there special things I need to take into consideration? Who would do this with me?

I will!!! (Depending on how much I have to pay) and when you do it.... Also would be fun to get one with snow and ice to learn how to get the cars back in line.... Anyone want to rent an Ice Rink?

there a place somewhere in nc that they do this. its like a standing mile run or something. i know a guy named sonny that takes his c4 there. and i belive that ed had a part in building the vette too. i seen a video of one of his runs awhile back. was like a 200mph run i think. i'll see if i can get more info on the place for you.

That would be fabulous. There's a site online that has all the Virginia Airfields and it's up to the researcher to look through them and find the airfields that haven't been turned into fields or whatever.

Anyone want to go to this? I'd be game if others were going. Since I've had the Mach it's only been to 110 mph and I wouldn't mind finding out how fast it will go.

Well, I will not be able to make it for this weekend. It's too short of notice, but April 4th and April 5th. I will be going. So let's start now, we'll keep this thread open and see how much attention we can get by then. I want to see if I can max it out at 172.

Absolutely, but first time drivers have to attend an orientation the day before.

I'm not sure how much fun it would be for a spectator. I don't think they have stands up or anything.

I want to find out the safety requirements.

It'll be something to keep in mind for next spring. I would love to say i hit 200mph. Not that the car will do it right now.

It's $10 for the rule book. There is a guy on the Mach 1 site that does top speed runs regularly, I'll try to find him and some info. It make take a little while to get a hold of him but I'll try.
