This is d a m ning testimony to the fact the Repubs tried to stop the fallout which we're in. Pass this to anyone you can think of, Dem or Repub.
We need to hold or public servants accountable. We need to vote them out.
We also need to let our congressmen know this bailout is unacceptable.

The Dems refused to listen. Mostly I believe because there are a lot of Dems on the boards of these institutions. This could have been prevented.

Absolutely. Those same Dems were getting heir pockets lined by the lobbyists. Same ones that have contributed large amounts of $$$ to the NObama campaign.
Seems he is the second highest $$$ recipient from Fannie/Freddie after only 4 years? The first highest took almost 20 years to receive just a little more.

I like to think of it as a democrat getting his fair share. Kind of like the republicans lining their money with the oil I so lovingly use up. :D
On a real note, I don't see a video for how democrats could have protected indymac, or merrill lynch, but I do wish politicians would stop wasting money and wasting everyone's time. I want to see the **** hit the fan and then rebuilt right.

There have been a lot of huge mistakes committed. I'm not a political type at all but...
Anyone with half a brain could see this coming. It could be seen years ago. For example, back in '04 a friend built a house in San Diego. Two months after signing the paperwork the value was set at over $30k from what they paid for it. The dang thing wasn't even finished being built. That is a problem.
Also, some of this needs to be brought upon the buyer. Don't buy a $300,000 house when your making minimum wage and an adjustable mortgage rate to boot. It's plain stupidity.
Being in the military I'm not going to get laid off but my retirement is right around the corner (3.5 yrs) and it's going to suck if this trend continues. People really need to pull their head out of their ass and fix this ****.
My $.02 but it's only worth a penny now. :pissed:

All very valid points. Let's not forget the corruption is also in our local governments. How bout the city property assessors that drive up our assessments to increase tax revenue. How bout just increasing the tax %?
It really is a mess. Hope we live to see it sorted out. Hate to leave this for my 5 year old daughter. Saddens me..........

Since I don't own a home here nor am I a resident I don't really know too much about that stuff. Lucky for me I guess. but I do hear a ton of people complaining about the stuff though.
I was going to type a rant here, but decided to just say this.
THE MARKET IS GOING TO CORRECT ITSELF - WORLDWIDE!! The world economy is looking for equalibrium which means American's will live worse and people in India, China and Russia will live better. Europe will stay the same most likely, it already mostly sucks.
The question is this-
ARE YOU WILLING TO HAVE LESS SO SOMEONE ELSE CAN HAVE MORE, EVEN IF YOU'VE WORKED HARDER?
IF THE ANSWER IS YES- You are a DEMOCRAT
IF THE ANWER IS NO - You are a REPUBLICAN
The simple reality however is that none of us want to live worse. Most Democrats seem to think only Republicans, business owners and corporations will be worse while their lives will improve. That's the problem.

I am very much a democrat, and I refuse to work more for less. /rant There's a moderate field we're missing. :)
Do you want free healthcare for everyone?
If the answer is yes, who is going to pay for it?
Do you want everyone, regardless of income to own a home?
Who's going to pay for that.
If you think the answer is tax the wealthy, where do you think that money is really coming from.
Redistribution of wealth (tax the rich to help the poor) doesn't work. There really aren't enough "rich" people to take care of everyone else. Everyone must pay their fair share of the services we all recieve. Limiting those services to only those that are paying for them "i.e. taxes" will improve the situation for everyone that is paying and make things worse for those that don't. Giving everyone, even those who don't contribute, waters down the benefits as well as the incentives to work hard and do well. Now I'm not talking about those who can't help themselves (the very young, the very old, the sick, or disabled) but those that can. If someone doesn't want to take care of themselves why should we do it collectively. There is no magic here. When the basket of bread and fishes are passed to everyone it will not be refilled by God or Jesus. What will happen is that instead of 5 or 10 fishermen getting to live from the fish they have caught, the entire group will starve. Wouldn't it be better to have 10 people live and 495 starve, or would you rather have all 500 starve. Personally, I'd be one of the fishermen and I have no desire to save the others. I don't think that makes me selfish. It just makes me smarter than those that wondered why I bothered fishing in the first place...

Well, I'm just going to have to disagree with you. I find it appalling that the CEO's of these major corporations that failed are getting 10,20,30, even 100 million dollars in kickbacks, stock options, and other forms of reimbursement because they lost their job because the company they were chose to run failed miserably. So, you take your fish, and give them to who you want, but if the 490 people that are starving paid for you to get your boat and to get whatever you needed to become wealthy, don't expect for those people to not be pissed off when you take all your fish and run when things look bad and then ask them to buy you a new boat.
PS. Your math needs a little redo... 495+10 = 505, while that is great for horsepower in a z06, that doesn't add up to your original 500. :D
Okay, I agree that CEO's don't earn or deserve that money, but the corporations are paying them. You can't pass a law limiting how much a private company pays. That's not fair either. The only way to reign in the CEO pay it so vote with your wallet and no longer buy those products. It's hard though because of the "good ole' boy network". Most of the members of the Board of Directors of these companies sit on more than one board. Most sit on many. They take care of each other and that's not going to change any time soon. The only way to really fix this is to let these companies fail and let them bear the cost of their bad CEO decisions. Then good CEO's will make high salaries and bad one's won't. It's never going to be "fair" by your standards though.
As for the rest, in the animal kingdom its survival of the fittest. Only with man do the stupidest and weakest get to survive by parasiting off the strong. At this rate the human race will likely de-evolve over time as the idiots breed faster than the intelligent. I suppose we are luckly to have lived during the peak of western civilization. I can only imagine it gets worse from here...
