The Ride for pride is a cruise from Cameron park in Alexandria to the Pentagon. It was set up by the Fbody hideout crew some years ago to remember the victims of the September 11th attacks and to show support to our military.

Time is getting close for the 2008 ride. I'm trying to get us started early so that people can plan to make this event. There are basically only two rules. Your car must be a domestic and you need to have an American flag.

The plan will be to meet up at Bass Pro Shop the morning of the cruise and all go up together to the park. Details still need to be worked out as there isn't much out on this yet.

I went to last years cruise and it was a great time. Nice cars, nice people and a great cause. I would like to get as many people out there as can go. Let's get this done.

Thanks

The 2008 Ride For Pride will be held on Saturday, September 13.

Special traffic note: When the cruise starts, the on-ramp to 495E/95N has ongoing construction. The merge area is short and narrow. Be alert and safe while merging. There will be plenty of time to get back in line once on the highway.

This event is held in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area...Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C.

2008 will mark the 7th year of the Ride For Pride. For those unfamiliar with this cruise, it's purpose is to remember all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. It also holds the purpose of expressing our support and gratitude to all the men and women of this nation's armed forces, who right now are ensuring that we have the right, and the freedom, to conduct this event.

This event was conceived in 2002, by D. Charleton, and with the assistance of M. Gonzales and C. Pryce. The first Ride For Pride (RFP) had about 10 vehicles in attendance. The 2007 car count was 80, including members from FBodyHideout, Eastern FBody Association, LS1Tech, LS1, FirstStateFBody, HRFBody, LS1GTO, CCGTO, and others.

Here is last year's cruise video...

When: Saturday, September 13, 2008.

Time: RFP will depart at 2:00PM. Please make sure you are on time, and have fuel, stragglers will have to catch up. Some of us will arrive around Noon, to detail cars or catch up with those we have not seen in awhile, etc.

http://www.nvrpa.org/parks/cameronrun/index.php

Directions to the staging area: From I 95 North and South, take Exit 174, you will be put onto the Eisenhower Avenue Connector. Make a right turn onto Eisenhower Avenue. Cameron Run Park will be on the left about a half-mile up. Pull in and proceed to the back of the parking lot.

Duration/Distance: RFP will travel 75 to 80 miles, and last about 2 hours. Please make sure you have enough fuel to complete the cruise.

Route: From Cameron Run Park, we will turn right onto Eisenhower Avenue and proceed to the first traffic light. We will turn left onto the Eisenhower Avenue Connector, and proceed to the first traffic light. We will turn left onto the on-ramp for I 495 East/I 95 North (Please read the following: the on-ramp to 495E/95N has ongoing construction. The merge area is short and narrow. We will continue around the Capitol Beltway (I 495), into Maryland and then back into Virginia. We will then exit onto I 395 North, and take Exit 8B, heading to the Pentagon. We will take the exit for the Pentagon North Parking, and finish the cruise there.

Also consider this statement by D. Charleton from a few years ago ... "It's not like if you show up you'll be turned away."

Please be sure to bring/have an American flag to put on your car, or something to show support for our servicemen/women.

This year's cruise again has alot to live up to. Please help me make this 'a cruise to remember'. Lets come together and show that we remember what happened on that awful day; and that we support our servicemen/women

Special traffic note: When the cruise starts, the on-ramp to 495E/95N has ongoing construction. The merge area is short and narrow. Be alert and safe while merging. There will be plenty of time to get back in line once on the highway.

Okay, so the bad news first, apparently, after telling my girl I was doing the ride for pride, her respond was, "but we have the wedding to go to down Virginia beach on the 13th."

Really? God **** it. Sorry guys. Let's pray for cold feet.

Directions to BPS to Alexandria.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=s&utm_...=google%20maps

Says it takes about 2:45 minutes from BPS to there. I'm thinking if we leave around 9:30 - 10:00 that will give us time to stop for gas, eat and do whatever prep work you need to do to the cars before the cruise.

See you all there!!!!!!!!!

Where are you all leaving from. I know down in the Hampton Roads/Newport News area. When I would go down there and back for visits from No. Va. It would usually take us about 2 - 2 1/2 hours all depends on traffic though. But if you were to leave at 0930-1000 you will have plenty of time.

A great stopping point is the All American Truck stop at King Dominion. That is just over halfway here. At least from the Newport News area. I know some of you will be coming from Norfolk, and Va. Beach so that would be like at least an additional 30 minutes.

Just remember when you get to the VA. Safety Corridor on 95N which starts in Triangle and ends at Route 123/Occoquan, just be on the watch out for the State boys....... That is an area known for ticket issuance......... You will see signs for the Safety Corridor, just a heads up for you all.

That's the tentative plan. Leave Bass Pro Shop around 9:30 - 10:00. If we catch any rain on the way up we'll need that extra time.

Thanks for the heads up on the Troopers.

Well we had a blast at Ride for Pride, had a really great turn out too. The weather also held out for us as well, no rain. And we also got to get into the Pentagon Memorial, which was a nice to see.

Joe and Don it was really nice to meet you both. I guess I will see you in a couple of months at the track for the autocross.

A pleasure as well.

There were a total of 83 cars that participated with plenty of video. This years turnout was better than last years.

It was nice to see the Pentagon Memorial. They did a nice job with it. Walking thru there reading the names and birth dates of the victims really hit some people hard. I saw a few with tissues. The youngest was only 3 yrs old. :(

If you are in the area go check it out.

I'll get what ever video and pictures I have up as soon as I can.

The wedding did turn out pretty **** good though. I'd recommend those in the future lol.

Who let in the Nissan's????!

I thought the gray mustang/maybe cobra near the end was going to smash into oncoming traffic. tsk tsk.

I would have thought they would have felt a bit out of place. Did any of you watch the movie "Cars"? Talk about "Stickers".......... But as they say we won't turn anyone away who wants to participate. But i bet Don will make sure Stickers isn't behind him next year.

Here are the pictures that my husband and I took. Sorry we usually take a bunch, but it was too hot to be standing out on that blacktop for too long. Had to hang in the shade more so than usual.

Just so you know Joe that is from the 2006 RFP. We probably won't see ours for a while. Last years took a while to compile, but it was worth the wait. DKitchen is looking into it as well.
