I just notice the security light came on when i started my car today before school and stayed on until i parked the car. Came back out to my car in 3 hours and noticed it still on all the way home. So my question is what can cause this? Also i was talking to Smoke Panther on another about MAF sensor and he said to stay with a stock MAF instead of a performance one. Well could the security light come on because of the MAF sensor (that i havent replaced yet)? Thanks for all help

Try cleaning that chip on the key.. The metal conntacts maybe dirty.
Its your VATS ( Vehicle, anti, theft, system.)that is messing up.. There are 2 wires that are soldered onto the inside of the ignition key lock on your steering wheel.. What that little Resistor ( Chip) on your key does is when you insert it into the ignition, the resistor is set at a certain resistance that completes the electric circuit through those 2 wires on the ignition. When you turn the key on it dissables the vats system and alows you to start your car.. This is so that you can only use your key with the right resistor to start your car.. Now over time those wires that are soldered on the ignition get loose and break connection to the circuit so that even when you do insert your Key the CPU doesnt get the right resistance signal from your Chip due to the broken wire on the ignition.. when this happens it triggers your Security light and enables the VATS system so you cant start your car..
There are really 2 ways around this.. 1. take apart your steering column and resolder the wires back on. Thats takes alot of time and a big pain in the Ass.. 2. or get a multimeter and measure the resistance of your Key. Go to radio shack and buy a 10 cent resistor with the same resistance and follow those wires from your ignition to under your dash and splice that resistor to both wires.. This will always dissable the VATS but you will always be able to start your car..
