Let's have a contest. I posted the following question on my F150 forum. Let's see who can answer it first. I have an 95 F150 XL with dual tanks. When using the rear tank, return fuel will go to the front tank instead of the rear. I believe the fuel delivery module (FDM) is bad. It is a part that contains a shuttle selector valve that directs return fuel to the tank being used. My question is, where is it? I think it might be part of the fuel pump in the tank, which would mean dropping the tank. I don't want to do that. (who would?) Someone told me it was along the frame rail underneath the bed, but I couldn't find anything. Of course I really don't know what it looks like anyways. I'm beginning to believe that was on earlier models and not mine. If anyone knows where it is located, let me know please. Im praying it's external to the tank. Pics if possible. HELP!

I'm looking around for you but I just can't find anything.

PM cooter, he works on F150's all day. Not sure if he works on the older ones or not but worth a try.

Dude, if this recall applies to my truck and I get this done for free, I will have your children. :D That may be the best news I have heard in awhile. Where do you go to find recall info like that? Thanks.

go to the dealer, If it's a recall they'll do it for free.

MANY times there are no published recalls, but rather TSB's (technical service bulletins). it's a PR thing. they'll fix little and sometimes big boo boo's without publishing it to the world. i once took a 10 year old taurus in for an egr problem and left with a whole new injection system. I got a letter from GM last year about problems with the cat's on LS1's. My SES light would come and go and Rich pulled the code "bad cat". The letter didn't say it was a recall, rather, that "if the SES light comes on and a dealer verifies that it is a bad cat, it will be replaced free of charge". Took it up and voila, new cats. gone now though for some high flow ones with the headers.......

Thanks for the info guys. I am going by the Ford dealer today to see if this is covered under a recall. If not, I'm probably out of luck and will have to deal with it for now. Pray for recall, pray for recall, pray for recall. I'll update when I find out something.

if not, let us know, all you have to do is unbolt the 4/6 bolts from the truck bed and have some friends lift it off and onto some blocks to get to the pumps. It'll cost you some beer and about 2 hours, lol

Well the news is bad. No recalls for the FDM. There was a service bulletin years ago, but ant wotk would have only been free under the vehicles original warranty. Do you think a 95 is still under warranty? LOL Thanks for the help guys, but it looks like this will have to wait.

well did you price out how much a pump assy is? does it pump it into the rear or the front?

$140 for the pump assembly at Advance. I didn't price it at the dealer. I'm sure it's $280 there. When using the rear tank, the return fuel goes to the front tank. I either read here or on my truck forum that if it does that, it means the front FDM/selector valve is stuck open and thus allowing all the return fuel to go to that tank. So I would need to replace the front fuel pump assembly, which contain the FDM/Selector valve. My fuel gauge doesn't work when on the front tank either. It works when using the rear tank. So that may be related to all this also.

so then you could just maybe get away with front tank pump?

If you are asking can I get away with only buying the front fuel pump, I believe the answer is yes.

sorry to be vague on my comment but yeah I was asking if you could just buy a front tank fuel pump......

P.S. You own a ford truck and don't wanna spend money to fix it when it breaks???.. Isn't the only reason to buy a ford truck???

I just don't want to spend money period. I'll get it fixed sooner or later, but it is not a major issue at this time so I am going to wait for now. I will take people up on the offer of labor for beer when the time comes though.
