Finally got around to installing the A/F guage today. Nice piece of equipment I'll have pics up tomorrow.

Install time about 3 hours for a 1st timer. Now that I've done it maybe an hour. Got the O2 bung welded in for $25. Good guys let me know if you need there number.

If you do buy one of these don't route the wire through the firewall. It's much easier to go thru the hole in the shifter area.

I only got to get on it once but a/f went down to 13.2 - 13.4 so it's running a little lean.

Pics tomorrow.:yep:

What A/F ratio are you going to be shooting for @ WOT?

Nice car, by the way. That 2003/2004 Mach 1 is my favorite Mustang. That car was an absolute monster.

Thanks.

I'm shooting for a 12.9 - 13.1. But really it just depends on if the computer is pulling timing. The '04 computers (tune) seem to be really sensitive with the stock tune.

BTW, welcome and good to have another Ford guy here. I'll take any insight that you have.

I think even that sounds too lean for wide open. I'd look for a 12.5 at the leanest, and probably go a bit richer at higher engine speeds.

You doing the tuning yourself or are you going to a dyno shop to have it done? If you're going to a pro, I'm sure they'll have recommendations, but I wouldn't go leaner than 12.5.

I'm going to a shop to have it retuned. From what I have seen high 12 - low 13 is ideal for HP with still being safe.

But you have me thinking. A lower a/f may allow for more timing which would be more beneficial.

Yes, adding more fuel will allow you to add some extra spark. But you'll get to a point where the torque output levels out. You can still add more fuel and spark, but no more torque increase, so theres no point going any richer. Looking at your mod list, I'm not sure how its going to effect it, but I'm guessing that the breakpoint is gonna be about 12.7 to 12.5:1. 13.0 or leaner sounds too lean to me. But I guess that's just one guy's opinion.

Going a bit richer as rpm goes high would primarily be for component protection.

I'll try and see how mid 12's work out when I get retuned. Thanks for the dicussion.

Finally got my cord back so I can put these up.

1st pic. Just the gauges w/ A-pillar.

2nd pic. I routed the wires thru the shifter boot up to the gauge. This is the easiest way to do it. No matter which car you have.

3rd pic. Wire routing up to the A-pillar. Much easier than going up through the dash.

Hope this helps.

I'd suggest a Cummins Turbo Diesel :)

When you going to do the tune? I'm still wondering where it will fall for LBT fueling.

Still trying to figure out what the sound is coming from the car. A mechanical type knock but a vibration type sound on decel.

Doesn't happen in nuetral.

That was just the wrong BOOM last time! When you get the right BOOM you will find your noise.
