my friend ross showed me this site and i thought i would join.

heres my car. its a 68 sport satellite, 383, 4 speed.

thanks guys, i painted the hood yesterday, it looks great but i haven't gotten a picture of it yet. i was thinking about painting the trunk black too, but im not to sure how it would look. i dont think many people do it, so it would be cool to be different.

today i started taking apart the 383 short block that i have, in preparation for getting it bored.

Nice progress. The rotating assembly looks pretty clean.

yeah i was pretty surprised to see how clean it was and the lack of sludge i expected. looks like the motor was rebuilt or has low milage

I'd say low mileage.

i used to have engine sludge.... and some extra napkins...

it's got to be a rebuilt engine, oil back in the day didn't have the detergents in it that modern day oil has, that's what caused the "sludge". you'd have to clean,flush and change the oil every few weeks to keep it that clean back in the 70's

Maybe someone did a rering and cleaned it up?

that's probly what they did, they rebuilt it and it didnt need a bore so the just freshened up the bearings and rings.
