View Full Version : Another LT1 revived!!!
It lives! The Lt1 fired last night and didn't make any bad noises. It was running only on the battery and pulling only about 8volts so it wasn't running well by any means but ran it did. Still have the motor mount bolts and cat back to bolt in, other than that its basically done.

sweet! good to hear!
Just need to find a dipstick and tube. Totally sucks that nobody carries it in stock. Like 4 days to get one. Maybe a junkyard item...

Still slow. LOL J/K
Oddly enough I'm banking on the Fiero being my "fast" car. Go figure. Thing is fast F-body's are dime a dozen - fast Fiero's are very few.

Fast is all a point of view!!! LOL
Yeah, if you really want to go fast you ditch 3000lbs of car and make due with 4 cylinders and 2 wheels...

mee too! **** it!
Maybe I should restate that - To get any attention and F-body needs to be in the 12's or lower. To get a crowd to stand around it probably in the 10's.
People don't expect Fiero's to be fast so its the biggest sleeper ever. If I get it into the 12's people will crap their pants at the track :)
BTW: Fastest 4.9 V8 Turbo Fiero: 12.27@112 (No spray) I'm in contact with the builder and hopefully getting the same program for my computer :)

A Fiero with a GTP motor swap runs like low 12's doesn't it...
Yes, the 3800SC can be made to run in the high 11's pretty easily if its a Gen II 3800. I didn't want the 3800 though because I like the way a V8 sounds and its not possible to reproduce that in a V6.
You're right though, the hot ticket for simply going fast is the 3800SC.
Okay, but you've got turbo's and other cool toys on your cars. All nice stuff. I guess I'm talking about and all motor car or even a nitrous car. Turbo F-body's are definitely bad azz so I stand corrected :)
Well, after all that work 1 single wire (hot wire to the ignition module/coil) put the car on a tow truck last night. Took 5 hours to figure out what was wrong with it. Haven't started it yet, but looks like that's what was wrong...
Wish me luck!

Once it quits driping on the opti it will!
Okay, last thing in a long list of problems I've resolved. Car runs and drives good now but just got a code. Looks like I need a knock sensor...
Knock sensor replaced but still getting a trouble code light. Buying an "el cheapo" code reader tonight to read the code. I'm also considering buying a ScanMaster LT1 but don't have the $250 for it right now. Also the code cleared itself last night be returned when I tried to start the car cold this morning...
Currently I've got a check engine light. Don't know the code yet and the fan's are running. The car is hard to start also so somethings definitely wrong.
When it does start it does idle smooth however. Funny problem, interesting to know what it finally ends up being.

Did you get it restarted last night?
Okay, despite my best efforts and denial it appears my optispark has bit the dust. Luck its under warranty with Autozone. They even have them in stock. Bad azz!!! Changing it tomorrow.
So, the saga continues. Runs great now but the computer has a trouble code. Bad thing is I can't retrieve the code for some reason which makes me think the computer itself isn't doing so hot. So, thanks to the ECD parts bin, I'm swapping in a factory computer tonight. I should write a book about these past three weeks!
In good news though, even with the sick computer the car pulls hard and has tons more torque than before. I suppose considering all the mods it should though. No traction in first gear at all and the worst wheelhop ever. Hopefully this weekend lower control arm relocating brackets and subframe connectors. Break out the welder baby!!!

what r u using to retrieve the codes? just curious.
First I was using the el cheapo scan tool. Bought it for the book more than the tool actually. Then switched to a jumper wire. Same result.
When in test mode the Check Engine light will flash only once for a second. Then no "12" code for "PCU OK". So, I'm thinking the computer is having issues. Swapping computers will tell me that though.

u home know? i have snap on scanner
Not home now, back around 6:30 tonight. I really think the computer is the problem though. Could have used the Snap On this weekend. :( Got to get this think licked soon though. Hope the new computer will do the trick. If not I might need to get it scanned.

Soon to be code free I hope
Code free and running good. I'm taking it easy on it for a while just to make sure though. The Mass Air failure was a real surprise honestly.
And big thanks to GRNta for checking my codes - otherwise I wouldn't have ever gotten it sorted out.
