I didn't know that Vega Hoods went up like a Vette? I was going to ask what the hell that red thing was under the car, then I saw the other pics.

Yeah, I'm getting ready to cut off the front hinges and install 2 front hood pins. The back of the hood already has pins. The red stuff is air bags and control/trailing arms.

I was refering to the red part hanging under the door. Looks like a square Cherry Bomb.

Yup, definitly Cherry bomb. Small fuckers too. I have shorty headers and flex pipe down to right under the seats. Yeah, it's loud!

OK, guess since everybody else is posting up pics of their projects, I will update everyone on my project. As most of you know, Craig @ Autosmart had the beast for about 4 months cutting out all the rust, doing the body work and painting it. Since then I brought it home and fool with it when I can.

As you can see, I put Poor mans Dynomat aka roof repair rubber shield down and the 2 racing seats that I got a few months ago. Also changed out the shifter again. I had the exhaust done . Now it's a little less loud and sounds awesome.

When you going to get this harness?
Bobrsss
01-16-2011, 04:46 PM
Changed the intake out for a single Edelbrock Victor jr. Today I started the front bumper project. Wanted the look of the 71 Vega instead of using the filler panel that went between the bumper and front sheet metal.

Now all I have to do is find somebody to fix my bumper for me. Any ideas?

Well, as some of you know, I blew up the SB in the Vega this weekend. Don't even know how. Anyway, I'm just gonna stick the extra SB that came out of the 68 Camaro in for now. I need to get my headers ceramic coated. Anybody know where I can go locally for that?

Nothing really, just took off from a stop light. Not even fast. Big puff of smoke came out of the dipstick tube. When I got to the shop all we could hear was a big ass rod knock.

What he's not telling you is that he was doing a standing burn out before he took off normally from the stop light.

Not this time. Thing is, the exhaust is so loud I'm not really sure when it went. Thats just when I noticed it.

I'm building the exact same motor without the supercharger. Even have the same casting number heads. Cant put that beast in The Vega. Way too much power!!

I have one for the Vega. Just wanted to check out the small HEI.
I have the new motor just about ready . Jimmy cut me a new oil pan and thats on. Now if I can get the 700r4 wired I can get this MF'r in by the end of the weekend.

OK, heres an update. When the weather starts to turn cold, I put the Camaro up and pull the Vega out to work on it. Got the motor running pretty well in it now, but I don't think I like all that stall. Not sure what RPM it is, but seems like alot. Considering changing it out for the stock converter. Still need to rewire the lock out inside the trans and get the god damn shifter working right. Should be done by next weekend. Also got a guy working on the strips. Claims he can duplicate it perfectly.

I know. It conked out the other day and I was sure it had run out, but it was just the fuel pump fuse.

Launching test runs. Basically I've been trying to break it so we know where it needs to be beefed up. Didn't know it would break the pumpkin/tube weld. Anyway, we got it all back together including fixing the passenger lower control arm pocket and welding in both new upper control brackets. Hopefully that will stop the wheel hop. I tried to do some burnouts, but it had started snowing ,so it spun anyway. Pics to follow.
