Went to pay rent Sunday and on the way home I heard a loud POP and the back of my truck jumped off the ground. After that everything seamed normal. That is until I made a turn, at that point the rear started to pop and bounce until I started to go strait again. I put the truck on stands yesterday and turned the wheel by hand and after about a 1/4 turn the wheel locks up. I would say the rear has now retired it's self. To make things a little more fun the rear is an Eaton mechanical locker (G80 Rpo) and not a lot of the trucks had this option. i will be taking the rear apart this week end so picks are coming soon.:gotpics:

I saw a couple of S-10 trucks @ Pick & Pull that had that sme RPO code . My understanding is it's posi w/323 or 342 gears.

It is not a posi the G80 is a locker (much to my suprise). The G80 (or Gov Loc) is a full mechanical locker. and after a little research discovered that it will fit in an F-body. Maybe future project for another car.

I think the code G80 is GMs code for limited slip rear diff. But there maybe different rear diffs that where put in for each model.

That is what I thought but at least on my S10 the G80 refered to the govloc rear.

tore the rear apart today and found out that the magnet from the diff cover had come lose and lodged in the spider gears. I have included a few pics for your viewing pleasure. (sorry about the quality. I took them with my phone.)
