Hey Guys, name's Greg. New to the board but not the area. I moved down here to Portsmouth almost 2 years ago when I got married. I was a member of RPM for 4 years when I lived in Richmond. I'm also on VA Driven, LS1tech, RPM, Eastern F-Body association, etc. Looking to hang out some and maybe lend a hand working on some cars and possibly cruise with to the dragstrip.
The cars in my sig; My daily is the 03 GMC or the GP GT, the G8 is still new and only has 1900 miles on it. It will probably never be modified. The Z is my track/street car that doesnt get driven a whole lot. I'm putting a Th400 in it right now and probably wont be done with that for a month or two. I hope to make it out to some meets and events but it may be kinda hard since I work the weekends. We'll see what happens. For some pics:

Welcome to the site. Is that a Dark Blue Metallic Z28 I see there?? If so, nice to see another one around. Only other one I have seen is the one a Soldier drives on Fort Eustis. I tried to get him to join, but he just doesn't seem to be a true fbody lover. Again, welcome aboard (funny that an army guy is using a nautical term...). Sundays are our gear head days, or seems to be that way, for the northern bunch at least, oh and Rich. We just did a spring replacement, torque arm replace/relocate, fuel injectors, headers, and plugs on 4 different fbodys in a 12 hour span on Sunday. So if you like busted knuckles, greasy hands, and love cars, then this is the group. We have the collectors, the gear heads, and a old man.. Bob.

thanks for the warm welcome guys. I notice alot of you guys from the other forums. My car hobby has sure fallen off a little bit since I got married which was expected. I dont know how much participation I'll end up having but it'll be better than nothing. My back limits alot of what I can and cant do. Hope to meet some of you guys.
Yes it's NBM and it's been hanging around 98K miles for the past 2 years. It has a junk yard motor in it with about 70K on it and a shot of spray. I have one of Midwest Chassis' first version of their Fabricated 9". My previous best was 10.61@129.8 with the 4L60E. Stepping up to a 4200 stall with the RVMB transbraked th400. Maybe I'll be quicker, maybe not.
We bought the G8 back in August and have only put 1800 miles on it. Only plans for that are probably window tint and GXP rear diffuser.

Hey Chris, I just noticed in your pic there is alot of cones down old boy. The guy that went before you must have knocked them all down.

The cones on their side tell you which way you're supposed to corner the cone, or something like that.

Yea, its a autocross thing. Not too sure myself, I just stick to a strait line.

There called Pointer cones. And yeah, my racecar has a steering wheel that I actually use! Soon as the season starts up, I'm going to be doing some serious AutoX call outs to you guys.

I can jump on the NBM band wagon, but name doesn't ryhme with anyone elses...

Yeah, autox can be fun. But back in the day I would laugh at all the ricers and stuff with their whole, I can corner thing. The funny part is they say they are really fast and can beat us in the twisties. I don't know about you guys, but street racing in traffic with turns is down right retarded and dangerous, plus any time we'd race it was in a strait line. Also, how many cars are on the autox track at the same time? I'll wait...... It's all about beating the clock at that point and not actually seeing the other car fade behind you. If I really wanted to autox I would have bought a Miata or a STi, or a 3rd gen for that matter.

Well, we’ll see how well a 4th Gen can be set up for Autocrossing (on a budget) this year. My car has been modded over the winter to correct most of what was wrong with it last season. I didn’t do horribly (other than the reliability issues) but I’m hoping that this season the car will see some improvements as I learn the new suspension.

As for darting in and out of traffic, I don’t really think that’s much of a test of the cornering ability of a car. Spend a few hours at an autocross event and you’ll see what I mean.

Now I also can tell you horsepower means very little on an autocross course beyond a certain point. The balance of the car, including the weight and it’s ability to respond to driver input are much more important as well as the ability of the driver. It’s nowhere near as easy as I was expecting before my first event. I’m in the second year this time and still not even considering myself anything but a novice, though I’ll enter ESP instead of NOVICE class this year.

Jazz, We'll be chasing two 5 series Bimmers this year. I'll be in ESP as well. I just got another set of Z06 wheels so I'm hoping to run 315 hoosiers all the way around this year! Just gotta find some cheap take offs.

Do you need autoX tires? I have some I need to unload.

Jazz

What kind of tires? If they're last season's they better be slicks. Thinking about going to Hoosiers myself this year.

Have you seen this deal? Used Hoosier for $60 each?
