That will give the chevy guys a good run as it will have 412 hp and the mustang is lighter then the camaro.

It's finally a good thing for the Ford guys. A GT that has what amounts to the same HP as the old 03/04 Cobra's, which were underrated of course. 412hp with we'll say a 50hp drop for drive train will be around 360 to the wheels, about what the Cobra's did(think I saw a bone stock one put down 368) I see potential to run 12's stock. At least it's American.

I see this as a good thing, but of course the typical Mustang Douchebag will still end up in one. This is not a slam on all Stang guys, some of you are cool.

Seems like they are still playing catch up to GM, and at the same time, taking some of thier designs, oh and adding a little vtech rice to the spin.

I totally agree with that. The after market is gonna have to play some quick catch up though. It's a new motor and not the a modular type, bolt-ons will probably come fairly quick but the more major stuff is gonna take a bit.

The new Camaro has some of the same "vtech rice" tech.:boxing:

Anyway, it will be interesting.

All the newer cars have some sort of variable valve timing now. However most of the American V8 cars already make power before hand. Plus this new VVT is lightyears ahead of the old school VTEC.

I'm really interested in when we'll finally get around to electronically actuated valves. That's probably about 5 to 10 years away if it ever sees real production. There are some small European cars that will be out sooner than later. When that happens you'll be able to program you valvetrain timing with a computer, no more cams, no more VTec. That's the real ticket.

Lastly though, the Mustang is sweet and should work great with a supercharger on top of it. Cams and other goodies are going to be EXPENSIVE and the average Joe isn't going to be doing mods in the garage like on the LSx series motor which seems to limit the amount aftermarket stuff. There's something to be said for the simplicity of a single camshaft when it comes to a car as a hobby in my opinion.

The normal bolt on stuff won't be too bad but when it comes to heads and cams it will be just like all the other 4 valve mustangs $$$$$$. I didn't read the article you posted but going from what I remember it's going to have 11:1 compression, your not gonna be able to strap on a blower and up the boost unless you do a forged motor.

You're right though, I do like the simplicity of the LS engines, simple but strong.

The stock motor already has a forged steel crank and 4 bolt mains. ****, that thing is strong like an ox.

I wonder what these stangs are going to cost ?

If I remember right it was around $32k give or take.

Plus that other sticker next to the Factory one that says Market Adjustment Value: $10,000.

Actually the market is kinda depressed so I doubt they can get away with that anymore. Even the Z06 is selling at or below sticker right now. Imagine what you'll be able to get a 2010 Mustang GT for now, not that anyone would want one considering the 2011 base V6 will likely be as fast or faster.

Even so, when the first brand new ones actually get there, the stealerships will mark them up at first. Someone will buy them, just like those boneheads who piad like 60k for the GT500 when it came out.

True, but its still JUST A MUSTANG and I can't see anyone throwing an extra $10,000 down for a Mustang, serioursly. That's getting VERY close to Corvette pricing and I'd rather have a Corvette ANY day of the week.

So would most, but true Stang guys don't like Vettes and that the Mustang is the end all be all. Now that the "5.0L" is back, Fanboys are going to be all over it.

Jazz

It will still be heavier and have less power than the Corvette and I a can only imagine what a C7 Z06 will be like, but I am pretty sure direct injection and possibly twin turbos are in the works...

Not even close to the Camaro.

There is a ton of hype over the new Mustang, I'm sure there will be some sort of mark up but not even close to $10k.

Rich, the 5.0 can never lose, didn't you know that?

They did the same thing with the Camaro. Trying to rip everybody off!

Doesn't matter to me any more, I'm not going to buy new again. Much more bang for the buck on a nice used ride.

Absolutely, a year old car with a couple of miles will save you a bunch.

Read about the 5.0 in autoweek the other week. Looks interesting, hopefully it'll be faster than the gt is now :swords: :D
