View Full Version : 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente
I just picked up another sink whole to throw my money into.
A 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente. Its red with bench seats. Originally with a 289 and auto.
The car is complete except for bumpers, engine, tranny and driveshaft.
I plan on buying a donor car (T-bird/Crown Vic) to get an engine/trans/computer or possibly Joe has a line on a 302 and AOD that would also work.
This is one of the first pieces of muscle out of Detriot. Should be a great cruiser.
The attached photo is NOT of the actual car....

So what is giong on with this???
The car is still there waiting for some TLC. No real hurry at this point though until my other projects are completed. One thing at a time. :)
Hopefully I can get this moved in the next couple weeks and get another coast of primer on it.
Will end up being a nice car hopefully. Maybe a little more European theme like a Mercedes.

looks to be in good shape
It really is in pretty decent shape. The floorboards are intact and do not need replacing. There is no major rust that needs to be cut out or patched.

heck yes, stuff a screaming chevy small block in her and have some fun!
Sorry, got to be a Ford in this one, though a 6.2 would be pretty sweet. This one is going to get a 5.0 out of a donor car and will be slow, a cruiser, not a bruiser...
5.0 out of a foxbody? efi?

Sweet car. What motor you going with?
Standard 5.0 from back in the 1990's, you know, old skool...

****! I was thinking old school like a flat head! LOL
I've been considering jumping on the vintage Nascar bandwagon and doing a circa 1964 Nascar paintjob and theme for this car. That being the case, I'd go back to a carb to a mid 1990's 5.0.
Any thoughts?
